What is ECDL?
The ECDL or European Computer Driving
Licence is an internationally accepted qualification that can simplify
employment procedures. It certifies that the holder has knowledge of the basic
concepts of Information Technology (IT) and has the ability to use a personal
computer with common computer applications to a basic level of competency.
The ECDL aims to promote and encourage
computer literacy to all citizens throughout Europe and internationally,
regardless of their background.
By developing awareness of IT, users
will understand the advantages of using PC's, how their productivity and the
accuracy of their work can be increased, and how this knowledge can help them to
actively participate in the Information Society.
It is suitable for people of all ages,
for those about to enter the job market and those who wish to develop new
skills, update existing ones or obtain formal recognition of their practical
abilities, in all working environments.
How do you get the
certification?
To obtain an ECDL certificate a candidate must pass 1 theoretical test,
which evaluates their knowledge of the basic concepts of IT plus 6 practical
tests. The practical tests assess the candidate's knowledge of basic facts
relating to information technology and ability to use a PC and common computer
applications
